Pit Gauges Models

The Western Instruments N88-11 Jr. Bridging Pit Gauge is used to measure Dents and Buckles on Pipelines, Shell Settlement on Storage Tanks, etc. These various forms of Bridging Bars can utilize any of our exclusive Dial Indicators (Imperial, Metric, or Digital), with any of our Custom Engineered Contact Points. Western's advanced Bridging Pit Gauge System and our new Jr. Bridging Pit Gauge take over, where the capabilities of our standard Pit Gauges fall short, for evaluating large areas of Weight loss Corrosion. There are several important features to a Segmented Bridge, where various elements (Blades and Tees) are assembled to form a Bridging Bar. Firstly, they can be assembled to follow the contour of a slightly irregular surface. This contouring feature is important for Pipeline, Storage Tank, and Pressure Vessel inspections, where 'hills and valleys' always exist. Secondly, the models listed below are of a given length, however extra elements can be added to increase their over all length. As illustrated, these units can be assembled in Spanning or Cantilevering configurations, and finally, the Main Blade can be used individually for isolated or cone type Pitting.

The Reaching Magnetic Pit Gauge is a precision instrument that allows the Corrosion Inspector to conveniently measure Pit Depth or material loss in areas of Weight-Loss Corrosion. The N88-5M Reaching Magnetic Pit Gauge comes with a 4-3/4" (120mm) long blade with an end-mounted indicator and contact point, a long nose cutout and 2 adjustable magnetic cartridges. The Multi-Weld Gauge is a precision instrument that provides an easy to read measurements of the following welding and fit-up parameters; Internal Hi-Lo, Gap, Filet Height and Leg Length, Weld Height, Undercut Depth, Misalignment, and Angle of Preparation. The Multi-Weld is unique, a distinct improvement over existing gauges.Weld and Fit-Up parameters are outlined in numerous industry specifications, such as; AWS, ASME, API, ANSI, ISO, DIN, CEN, and Military Specifications. Of particular importance for AWS Inspectors, the Multi-Weld Gauge will resolve and measure Undercut to +/- 0.010 (0.5mm), something no other Lever Type Welding Gauge can do.

The Calibration Block is equipped with 4 Flat Bottom Holes of various nominal depths, namely 2.5mm, 5mm, 7.5mm, and 10mm (0.100, 0.200, 0.300, & 0.400). The Flat Bottom Holes are intentionally made not completely flat, as to simulate the irregular surface of corrosion or erosion, and to ensure the technician Scans through the varying depth, to ensure the Gauge is working correctly and to verify the certified shallow and deepest portions of each Artificial Indication
